The Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art, in partnership with the Terra Foundation for American Art, developed a searchable online guide to American art-related archival materials in 75 Chicago-area collections. Visitors to this go-to resource for researching American art in Chicago and the city’s art history can browse by repository or search across records describing nearly 900 individual archival collections.

In addition to the survey of Chicago-area repositories, the Archives of American Art produced a web feature highlighting the Archives’ holdings of important Chicago-related material, and 10 new oral history interviews with influential Chicago artists, curators, and gallerists for the Archives’ renowned oral history program.
