Everyone's a Designer/Everyone's Design January Program and Exhibition
Chicago Cultural Center
78 East Washington Street, Chicago, Illinois 60602
Join Illinois Humanities for an exploration of the role played by everyday Chicagoans in the history of art and design in the city.
Bring a unique object from your home to this live storytelling event and share how your personal space reflects your history, culture, and community. Cultural historian Tim Samuelson and designers Tim Parsons and Jessica Charlesworth will be on hand to provide historical and design context.
While you’re there, check out the Everyone’s a Designer/Everyone’s Design traveling exhibition, on view December 9, 2018–March 29, 2019. The exhibition includes five video oral histories collected in the homes of Chicago residents, from a North Kenwood house filled top-to-bottom with works by African American artists, to a Victorian home in Austin known for its pink exterior and French colonial-style interior. Your design object will be photographed and added to the exhibition.
