Robert Lostutter

Corbett vs. Dempsey

1120 North Ashland Avenue, 3rd Floor

Robert Lostutter, Garden of Opiates 13, 2015. Graphite on paper, 20 1/2 x 27 inches. Corbett vs. Dempsey.

Robert Lostutter is identified as one of the Chicago Imagists, a group of artists that emerged from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago during the post-World War II era. Over the last 30 years, he has gradually evolved an approach to figuration that hybridizes the human form with birds and flowers, and recently he has invented several tribes of altered people. This exhibition presents a new series from Lostutter’s ongoing works in graphite and watercolor, unveiling a new strain of his personages.
