Conversations en Community: 50th Year Commemoration of the Peace Mural
National Museum of Mexican Art
1852 West 19th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60608
Join the National Museum of Mexican art for a 50th anniversary celebration of the first Chicano/Mexican-American community mural in the United States, painted by artist Mario Castillo in the summer of 1968. This influential mural launched a national public art movement from Chicago’s own Pilsen neighborhood. This program features a conversation between Castillo, Chicago-based arts journalist Jeff Huebner, and Mark Kelly, Chicago's Commissioner for the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
This event is free and open to the public. This venue is wheelchair accessible.
