Opening Reception for Participatory Arts: Crafting Social Change

Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, University of Illinois at Chicago

800 South Halsted Street, Chicago, Illinois 60607

Join us on Jane Addams’ 158th birthday for cupcakes, music, and the launch of Participatory Arts: Crafting Social Change, a multidisciplinary exhibition exploring the Social Settlement's influence on visual and performing arts in Chicago through historical and contemporary practices: bookbinding, the origins of art therapy, ceramics, theater, and performance.

The exhibition features artworks and artifacts from the Museum and the Special Collections at the University of Illinois at Chicago—many of which have rarely, if ever, been publicly displayed.

Featured artists include Leah Gipson, Nicole Marroquin, and Regin Igloria, DJ Sadie Rock, and partners North Branch Projects, Free Street Theater, Albany Park Theater Project and UIC School of Theater and Music.

This event is free and open to the public.
